Cisco Mysteries
Dr. John K. Bromilow
The Troubled Man from Colorado?
I may have happened on the source of this curious quote, which I think first appeared on the sleeve of Passing Through. In Hard Travelin': The Life and Legacy of Woody Guthrie there is a chapter by Harold Leventhal. In this, he writes: 'When I first met Cisco he was working in a mine out in Colorado. I gave him the money to come east..'' Now the book appeared long after the LP sleeve but I wonder if Harold Leventhal was originally the source for this curiosity. I've seen mistakes copied from book to book over years, even centuries, at times.
The FBI?
According the the Smithsonian-Folkways site the FBI was still looking for Cisco after his death. Why?
